OV Fall Carnival:
Save the Date! The Annual OV Fall Carnival is Saturday, October 21st from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. Come eat, play games and socialize with OV families. Our harvest carnival is one of the highlights of the school year. As you know, it takes many volunteers to run this event. If you are interested in making this a successful event, please sign-up to volunteer herePlease contact Sabrina O'Brien - sobrien519@hotmail.com for questions about volunteering. Family Passes(Tickets) can be ordered online soon or watch for flyers with the order forms in kid-Mail in the first week of October. If you have any questions, please contact Rebecca Letwin - rsletwin@yahoo.com.

Eagle Packs:
Olympic View has teamed up with the University District Food Bank to offer a supply of snacks and meals for children over the weekend, FREE of charge.Bags are distributed every Friday starting on 9/22. All Olympic View students are eligible for this program. Examples of the type of food in the packs include milk, juice, cereal, soup, macaroni & cheese, tuna, snacks, and fresh fruit. If you would like your child to receive a pack, please contact Trisha Matthieu - tmatth@gmail.com or Jeanette Ferguson - jeanette@zaifworks.com. Volunteers are needed every Friday from 1:00 - 2:20 pm (except holidays) to help pack the food. If you have time to spare, please sign-up. Thank you for your help!

smART Fridays:
What are smART Fridays?
Every student in grades 1 - 5 participates in a four-class session of arts and enrichment electives taking place the last hour of the school day on select Fridays- three times a year! Classes include multiple grade levels and are taught by OV teachers, staff, or parents, who choose a topic based on their own background, skills, interests, and hobbies. Kindergarten will do their own smART Fridays in the Spring.

smART Fridays:
1. Build community across grade levels
2. Create equity and access to arts at OV by providing in-school arts opportunities
3. Foster excitement about learning
4. Develop growth mindset- students have an opportunity to try something new!

We need your help: We are looking for parents to either assist teachers in the first session of smART Fridays classes OR share their talents and skills by leading a smART Fridays class with an OV staff member to assist you! Examples of classes include piñata making, sewing, mosaics, painting, photography, gardening, clay, hip-hop dance, art from recycled materials and more! The commitment is 4 total hours- from 1:20-2:20 pm on November 3, 17, December 1, 8. Must complete volunteer paperwork before November.Contact Liz Law - melaw@seattleschools.org or Shannon Barnes - shannonmbarnes@gmail.comif you are interested in helping out.

The PTA Board is looking for an Activities Co-Director and also parents to join the Activities team. The Activities team plans and organizes school events such as Parentpalooza, Movie Nights, Sounders and Mariners games, and Staff Appreciation week. A big part of the Co-Director "job" is advertising for the events, communicating with parents, and recruiting parents to help out at events. Except for Staff Appreciation, the events are small, so the time commitment is small. If you like to plan, it's a lot of fun! For more information, reach out to Laura Kunen -laura@stdin.org.

OV Choir will be starting soon. The Choir will meet on Mondays after school and be open to 1st through 5th graders. Before choir can start, we need an OV Choir Coordinator—someone who manages all the 'behind the scenes' duties like tracking enrollment and payment, maintaining the Choir roster, and communicating with families, the PTA, and Mr. Holland. We also need volunteers to help supervise the kids before and during choir practice. For more information, contact Cristin Miller - cristinmiller@me.com.

Drop-off/Pick-up Parking:
In order to avoid congestion during drop-off, please do not park your car on 95th next to the Collaboration Station as this is the dedicated drop-off/pick-up zone.
Please try to keep the flow of traffic on 95th going one-way only, moving east to west. Because the street is so narrow, cars flowing in an eastward direction end up blocking the traffic. Instead, drive up to 94th NE and then take a left on 8th, and then turn west (left again) on 95th NE. Finally, Please avoid blocking our neighbors' driveways and mailboxes. We want to continue building strong relations within our neighborhood. Thank you for your cooperation.
